Sr. High Students
Please join us on the Eugene, Oregon Mission
Trip! Pete Whitney, First Pres. Outreach
Intern, is organizing a mission trip to visit and partner with MNA Missionary,
Kyle Parker, and Cascade Presbyterian Church.
We will bring 6-8 senior high students for this trip. The trip dates are
scheduled for July 5-9, 2010.
The purpose of the trip is to
partner with them in their annual Servant Week Event, in which they will be
serving with various ministries in the community performing small work projects
(painting, clean-up, renovation, etc). This year they will be partnering with
Looking Glass, a non-profit homeless shelter for youth, to remodel their upper
living area as well as doing some other light construction. They will be working with WomenSpace, a
secure shelter for battered women, to help paint their facility as part of an
ongoing project development from past summer mission teams. Our overall purpose is more than just free
labor, it is to visit and encourage the Lord’s work in Eugene.
Cost of the trip- estimated at just
under $1,200 per person
For the students that have not gone on mission
trips before. Here are the steps:
·
Fill out and submit a short term mission trip
application at FPC (in the Student Ministry Office)
·
Start thinking about how you want to finance the
trip. FPC’s policy for its members who attend a mission trip is to pay for 100%. If you can’t meet that, MNA will pay 25%
($300.) Attendees are encouraged to either fundraise (through letters to
family, etc.) or pay out of pocket for the remaining trip costs.
·
Await a meeting to be scheduled with an elder of the
church in order to conduct a brief interview for the session’s eventual
approval.
·
Meet occasionally to pray and discuss details of the
trip.
·
Then…fly out on arranged date.
We
hope you can join us on this mission trip!
